Progress Update 10/18/2025

Visible progress has been quite slow this week as our lead programmer is continuing to focus on reworking the saving system, which is something we need to do before moving onto further stages as it is a core part of the game architecture. Other work has been ongoing as well, which will have a more visual impact, but that work did not manage to be finished this week, thus the very small new build this time.
The saving update was not finished this week either due to the big scope of the change, meaning that there is still no public test build of 0.9.0 today. That is still at least one more week away. Hopefully, there's no more unexpected problems pushing the release back even further so that we can release 0.9.0 everyone on November 1st.
Programming
- New DevBuild for our patrons:
- Added a custom git mergedriver for .po files which should make working on Thrive a bit nicer to automate translation file update conflicts
- Fixed code workaround for shuffling 2 item bags, which shouldn't have a gameplay impact as there was a workaround previously
- Updated translations
Graphics
- Work on various new terrain chunk models has continued
Gameplay
- Last week we said that thermosynthesis produces glucose now instead of ATP, but that change was not fully finalised yet as it is pending update to the game text so that there's no disconnect between what the text in the game says and what actually happens.
