Progress Update 05/17/2025
We released a new Thrive patch this week, 0.8.2.1. This small release was done to address some critical issues in the latest big release. The most visible is that the tutorial and chemoreceptor lines are now again the colours they should be and are much more visible. The mouse being unable to click in the top left corner of the Thrive window was also fixed. And also OpenGL players got a partial fix to the microbe backgrounds being way too dark. To avoid the issue for now you can turn off microbe background blur entirely.
We haven't yet gotten properly into the 0.8.3 release new feature development, but there are some things already in progress like Hydrogenosome organelle and multiple balancing changes. Due to the summer break 0.8.3 is looking like it will be released around the end of summer. If you haven't given the major new features of 0.8.2 a go yet, this patch is an excellent time to do so.
There was also a new Launcher release, 2.2.0 this week. It had a few minor launcher improvements. The most major change is probably a new option to start Thrive without loading mods on start up (as this regularly causes issues for players updating Thrive). The release was actually mostly about adding proper Mac signing for the launcher, which it now has. Lastly, we have gotten some reports from players on Windows with their antivirus reporting the launcher. These are false positives so we'd appreciate if everyone can mark the executable as safe to make its reputation better.
