Progress Update 6/20/2026
The same as with last week, our lead programmer is currently on vacation, so progress Thrive is limited. But, we will still be providing you with weekly updates on volunteer programming contributions, and things that happen outside of programming.
For Multicellular, the scoring is now in a functional state, though there are very likely more adjustments coming in the future. In particular, the system should probably check whether pili are pointing away from the center of the whole organism instead of the cell and the cell in question is also on the outside of the whole organism. Once the rest of the system is more complete, there will also have to be some careful optimisation to ensure the auto-evo system continues running as fast as possible.
The first mutations have also been added, so now new Multicellular organisms are actually being added! No longer will the player be the only Multicellular Species in the game. The first mutations enabled are for Environmental Tolerances and Behaviour, so the new species will not exactly be very visually distinct. The next step will likely be to add infrastructure for auto-evo to place new cells.
We also have another loading screen art contest for you. Submissions go in this thread on our Community Forums. We would like to emphasize that artwork of any skill level at all is welcome! Any art submitted will be used in Juuzo's Thrive-related spec-evo video, and you can point out yourself if you feel you don't want your art to be considered for the actual in-game loading screens.
Last week we also released the full Thrive Soundtrack to a very positive response, so if you haven't listened to it yet, here is your reminder!
Look below for the a few more details, and we'll see you next week for another vacation Progress Update!
