Progress Update 01/20/2024
This week we've seen a good variety of miscellaneous bugfixes related to some of the new features that were implemented just last week, as well as some holdovers from the previous public update. Alongside these bugfixes was a fundamental change to our auto-evo prediction panel, which now prioritizes displaying the energy your species manages to collect rather than just population.

Auto-evo prediction now shows the gained energ…
Progress Update 01/13/2024
Some exciting developments this week as we have successfully implemented an unlocking system for parts in Thrive. This highly anticipated feature provides a greater sense of progress in the game by gradually introducing new options to the player as they evolve. The idea behind our system of unlocks is to only introduce parts at a time when they are needed or appropriate, thus eliminating any potential confusion or decision paralysis on the part of new players.
Note that there may po…

It's a brand new year, and development has been picking up once again to bring along fresh new features and bugfixes. Better yet, our paid employee is now off winter vacation and will be returning to development, meaning you can look forward to a steady pace of development here on.
There's still a little bit of work to be done fixing the post ECS-refactor issues that arose from the previous update, but once that is done and out of the way, you can look forward to some updates to our…

It's the last Saturday of December, and December fever seems to be on it's way out as development once again begins to pick up. We've had a good amount of discussion on various topics this week, both on the forums and internally as we question the current state of gameplay in Thrive. Unfortunately we do not have much of substance on the programming front to show for it just yet.
- Nothing Substantial

Progress Update 12/23/2023
It's winter time again, and many of our developers have been dropping off one by one for a much deserved rest and break from Thrive's development, including our lead programmer who is now officially on christmas break. Unfortunately this means there likely won't be any substantial news or progress made in the next two weeks, but certainly for good reason!
We hope everyone has a good one, and happy holidays!

Progress Update 12/16/2023 | Patch 0.6.4.1
Having just released our performance refactor update 0.6.4, we quite quickly became aware of a large amount of bugs and other issues brought up by our players. Thanks to everyone's help and reporting, we were able to track down the source of many of these bugs and patch them up with care.
The resulting patch has just been published today, and should result in a significantly more stable experience for our players. With the bulk of these bugs now dealt with, we should be able to begi…

For five entire months straight our developers have worked and toiled to bring about a massive rework in the functionality of Thrive's background processes. A massive undertaking that has left nothing untouched, and everything entirely different. This is without a doubt a fundamental change in the underlying rules of reality in the world of Thrive; A brand new physics engine complete with better performance. Nothing will quite feel the same as it once did, but it's still Thrive, and it …

This week we are proud to announce the launch of our public release candidate. A stand-alone build that allows the public to test our latest release… before it's official release. Note that this is a bit different from our alpha build release, which was far less stable and undeniably broken.
We have just one more week before the official release of 0.6.4 finally makes it out to public. It's been a long time coming, so keep an eye out for it on the 9th of December.
We are…

We've been getting a lot done this week with all efforts focused on smoothing out all the kinks and bugs that have resulted from our refactor. The microbe stage is once again in a largely playable state, but there are still many more bugs hiding in the fringes of Thrive. We have already surpassed our original planned release date for this update, and are now entering overtime to get the smoothest release possible.
In order to get things done right, we have decided to call on you…

This week our lead programmer has called for all hands on deck to assist with hunting down all of the resulting bugs , crashes, and other complicating matters that have come about due to the recent code refactor. With the physics system having pretty much been rebuilt from the ground up, everything that relied on it has fundamentally changed and now requires checking on.
Unfortunately, we do not feel that this version of Thrive will be ready to release until we can successf…
