Progress Update 10/17/2020
Time to discuss the future of Thrive again. As you know, we had the 0.5.2 release last week and as always we discussed what is going to be included in the next release.
Last time we talked about binding agents and we want to work on them again in this version. Other new features include improving saving, improving balance, more work on the spawn system and working on the procedural patch map, among other things.
We couldn't have a trailer for the new version ready on time, s…

The new Editor UI is finished! Matching the main game UI just like in the original concept. You can try it yourself if you are a devbuild supporter on our Patreon. We are also working on a new auto-evo prototype which is also available for testing for patrons.
Next thing to update would be the patch report and we already started changing its UI a bit. Another thing we updated was… well the whole game, Godot 3.2.3 was released, so we also updated the game to use this new vers…

We've talked about changing the microbe stage soundtrack for a while now. Most of these songs are years old and some members of the community think that they need a rework or that we need new tracks. We are still discussing about this so no decisions so far are final, but you can expect to see more discussion about this in the coming weeks.
There's more progress on the tutorial. You can download and try the new editor tutorial at our patreon, as always.
- Finished the ed…

Last week's discussions continued, we've refined the concepts we had while taking into account the feedback the community gave us in our latest survey. You can read these discussions in the links down below. And l…

There was a lot of discussion on the forums. Several new features were proposed, most notably, unlocking new organelles, proteins and enzymes randomly instead of having them all available from the start. Since this is a big change and we are still debating about it, we also made a thread on the community forums where you can vote on these decisions.
We added a few new functionalities to the saves menu and also made reproduction bars light up independently so you know for good wh…

There's a new devbuild available for our patrons. It includes the changes listed in the previous progress update and a few new things, like balances to the spawn system and marine snow and UI improvements.
NicktheNick, who you may remember from his Auto-Evo algorithm , came back to the project. After he catches up with development, he said he'll continue working on his algortihm, so look forward to that in the following weeks!
- New reset button for the settings menu
Progress Update 8/15/2020
One of the main issues that came after the godot port was resource spawning, often leaving the player in barren environments. Obviously that needs to be fixed, and that's what we've worked on this week.
If you are a patron, you can test these new changes by downloading the latest devbuild. We also worked on improving cell physics so collisions between them match their shape. Progress on marching squares continues, it's now implemented in Godot so membranes should be using this n…
